Sally takes over as Agri & Rural Affairs Chairman

Sally Wilson (Ettrick & Lauderdale) has taken over the role as Agri & Rural Affairs Chairman. Elected to the post at the SAYFC Council meeting in May, Sally made the following statement.

"I’m beginning to suspect there is something of the political activist running in dairy farmers blood, with myself being the third consecutive Agri-Affairs Chair from such a background! In my time as Chair I hope to continue the drive towards our future goals through our strengthened ties with the likes of the NFUS and our increased profile and potential influence with our own Scottish Government. Filling the boots of my predecessors is an unenviable task but one which I will strive to achieve! I also hope to continue the study tours which in recent years have seen Agri-Affairs in America, London and more recently Brazil. With the EU influencing domestic policy more and more it is likely that at least one of the trips will be concerned with EU policy specifically but if there are any other areas the members wish to investigate then please get in touch.

Agri-Affairs is for anyone and everyone, with meetings held throughout the Regions there are plenty of opportunities to come along and get your views heard. If there are any pressing issues that you feel Agri-Affairs should be airing please get in touch with myself or Penny and we’ll do our best to take it forward".
