BIG NIGHT OUT 2009
|
The North Region held a very successful Big Night Out on Saturday 3rd October 2009 in the Royal Hotel, Keith.
Eight teams from five of the eight North Districts took part in the “it’s a knockout” type games in the afternoon. Teams of ten from Orkney, Deveron & Speyside, West Aberdeenshire, East Aberdeenshire and Aberdeen & Kincardine competed in a sporting fancy dressed themed competition.
Games included formula one driving with a wheel barrow, fishing for ducks, fruit golf, hurdle racing, balloon football and “pants” swapping to name but a few!!!! Compere Mr Jimmy Dick of Echt gave members an overview of each game and provided a running commentary of the games.
Winners of the Big Night Out Cattle Trough Trophy (made by the North Regional Chairman, Allan Grant) were East Aberdeenshire’s “football” team with a total of 52 points. Closely followed by West Aberdeenshire’s “tennis” team in second place with 50 points and Deveron & Speyside’s “basketball” team with 48 points taking third place.
Winners of the Big Night Out Best Dressed District were the Game Shooters from Deveron and Speyside District.
The afternoon games were then followed by a disco held in the Royal Hotel, Keith. Around 200 members and friends enjoyed the evening disco, with music provided by Ollie White of Nightfever Discos. A very enjoyable evening was held by all.
Special thanks must go to all the teams who took part in the competition and to the Royal Hotel, Keith for having us back again for another year.
