AGRI AFFAIRS STUDY TOUR - CHINA
|
Following the huge success of our Study Tour to Brazil in December 2007 we are planning to take a group of YF members to China. Agriculture is the most important economic sector of China, employing over 300 million farmers. China ranks first in worldwide farm output, primarily producing rice, wheat, potatoes, sorghum, peanuts, tea, millet, barley, cotton, oilseed, pork, and fish. Although China's agricultural output is the largest in the world, only about 15% of its total land area can be cultivated.
Those taking part in the tour will be given a chance to help decide which area the tour will explore. Although it is expected that the group will be able to apply for some grant funding it will be up to the members of the group to also give a personal contribution and look for some sources of sponsorship for the trip.
Although the exact date for the trip is yet to be set the trip will last no longer than 14 days.
To take part in the tour please complete an application form, these can be obtained from the Agri Affairs section of the website or by calling the National Office.
APPLICATION DEADLINE 22 FEBRUARY 2009.
