introduction
The Scottish Skills Testing Service

The Scottish Skills Testing Service was formed in 1986 after legislation regarding the application of pesticides was passed. The service continues the work of the Scottish Association of Young Farmers traditional Farm Craft Skills Testing.

We are currently one of the main NPTC Assessment Centres working in Scotland, offering a wide range of assessments, enabling candidates to achieve NPTC Certificates of Competence.

The accredited NPTC Certificates of Competence offered by the Scottish Skills Testing Service demonstrate that the successful candidates have experience, technical knowledge and ability/ skills which have been independently and reliably assessed to the recognised national standard.

The Service is governed by the Scottish Skills Testing Council which is made up of representatives from SAYFC Council, NFUS, Forestry Industry, SQA, Local Authorities, FE Colleges and Training Providers. SSTS still remains a subsidiary of the Scottish Association of Young Farmers Clubs.
