Mearns JAC ‘Runaway’ with Northern Spotlights 2019 Title
Saturday 16th February saw the annual Young Farmers Northern Spotlights Competition take place in new venue for 2019, Inverurie Town Hall, with a full house being entertained by teams of local Young Farmers.
Four teams took part in the competition which sees them go head-to-head each performing a 10-minute sketch to impress the judges. To make the hard decision were judges; Mrs Rachel Anderson, a former North Region and National Chairman; Mr Scott Wilson, a past West Region and National Chairman; and Mr Andy Peddie, past National Chairman and currently SAYFC National President.
All four teams were of a high standard with Mearns (85 1/3 points) coming out on top with their performance ‘Runaway’, Deer & District JAC second (76 1/3 points) with ‘Cinderella’, and Echt YFC’s ‘Say Cheese’ being placed third (75 2/3 points). Also taking to the stage were Turriff & District JAC with their ‘Love Island’.
The Marr Salver, for the Best Individual Act in the competition was awarded to Alex Stephen of Mearns for his performance and in reserve was Joanna Foubister of Echt Young Farmers.
Kindly sponsoring the event once again this year was W & W Mackie Ltd, Agricultural Agents and Haulage Contractors.
Well done must go to all the competitors as this competition takes a huge amount of effort and commitment. Thank you to all stewards and supporters who helped out on the night.
