09 Dec Foursomes Teams Go for Gold
On Saturday the 6th December, SAYFC members filled The Royal Bank of Scotland Business School & Conference Centre with a wonderful array of crafts, flowers and baking for our National Foursomes Competition.
This yearโs theme was โCommonwealth Gamesโ to celebrate the eventโs return to Scotland in 2026. Each competing teamโs tray included; a floral display, a sewn article, four decorated cupcakes and a further article. We had 16 entries on the day, 5 Junior teams and 11 senior teams. With a wonderful level of the creativity and skill on display across the competition.
Our Judges from the Fife District of the WI were certainly impressed by the standard of entries with one judge remarking:
โThe designs of trays were really excellent; they had really thought them out. It was obvious that quite a lot of teamwork had gone on. The displays were coordinated, and the teams had obviously worked well together. The standard was very high. Itโs nice to see young people doing things like this and working together in teams.โ

Well done to our winners and to all our competitors for their fantastic entries. Joanne Hall, member of Carlukeโs winning senior team talked about the work and people behind their successful entry:
โAs a club, Carluke is thrilled to have secured the Senior National Foursomes title for the first time in recent history. It means a great deal to us, and itโs wonderful to see our hard work recognised. A big thank you to our amazing coach, Rosemary Hunter, and to our handicrafts convenor,ย Sarahย Patersonโ
Thanks once again to our judges from the Fife District WI, our competition Stewards Fiona Cuthbertson and Louise Greenhill, and to The Royal Bank of Scotland for hosting the competition in their Business School & Conference Centre.
