After arriving on Monday 10th June - All 12 exchangees met with International Vice Chair - Lucy McClymont and Catheirne and Anna Sloan for tea in Edinburgh to get to know each other.
Tuesday 11th June - The group set off with Jenny Baillie to Fife with the first port-of-call being Anstruther for an inspiring tour of the RLNI Lifeboat Station at Anstruther with Michael learning about their first response unit and base for the boats. https://bit.ly/2oRg9eZ
Exchangees luckily also got to hear from Jack Lowe - an artist making glass art from vintage photography for his Lifeboat Station Project - https://lifeboatstationproject.com/
After a fish & chip lunch - the group visited Tim Stockwell on Barnsmuir Farm who is within the Angus Growers cooperative group and spent a lot of time engaging with the exchangees showing them across the 500 acres! The working farm grows strawberries, raspberries, broccoli and cauliflowers. It is also home to some ponies, goats and sheep. www.angusgrowers.co.uk/farm/barnsmuir-farm/
The Peddie family at Silverdyke Caravan Park were next to host the group, providing them a showround of their family static caravans, cabins and the touring caravan site. Many thanks to Kirsty! The luxuary holiday homes sure are luxurious! A super visit! https://silverdykepark.co.uk/
Next it was a tour of the shops in St. Andrews and a visit to meet Carlos and Balgove Larder's skilled head butcher James Lothian - who provided a demonstration of traditional craft butchery.
James manages a determined and inspirational small team of apprentice butchers learning craft butchery. He constantly focuses on promoting agriculture and craft butchery as professions and career paths for youngsters! Balgove recently had a hugely busy RHET day, which highlights their great committment to the cause!
The group enjoyed a delicious steak dinner in the Steak Barn to finish off the evening! https://www.balgove.com/
