βThe Big Buildβ will deliver a new base for Young Farmers in Scotland. This will be a landmark facility providing Three Key Functions:
The new Centre will host our annual activities at the Royal Highland Show and various events, including:
SAYFC will collaborate with the Royal Highland Centre events team to enhance the showground’s event space offering.
The new Centre will provide an office hub for both SAYFC staff and other rural charities. SAYFC like many other organisations have developed a hybrid working model for staff, as do other rural charities.
Providing a joint workspace with these organisations will enhance collaboration and improve services offered to rural communities throughout Scotland.
SAYFC will celebrate 90 years of Young Farmers in Scotland in 2028. The development of the new Centre has been the catalyst for the Association to create a heritage space for the SAYFC archives and memorabilia. This will document the impact the Association has had on rural Scotland in itβs 90 years, whilst opening up the resources to members, past members and supporters.
The heritage space will also provide a conference area for larger group meetings.
The material palette for the buildings will be carefully selected to achieve a modern finish, incorporating timber, brick, metal, and curtain walling. This approach not only respects the surrounding architecture but also creates a distinctive feature on the site.
The overhanging, pitched roof will provide sheltered spaces at the front of the building, establishing a prominent entrance and creating a design connection to the Royal Highland Pavilion, which shares a similar architectural style.
