β€œRoots and Routes:
Building Sustainable Rural Youth Futures”

October 25th – November 1stΒ 2025
Ziemupe, Latvia

Rural Youth Europe and Latvian 4H have warmly invited up to 2 participants from SAYFC organisation to Latvia.

The Autumn Seminar in 2025: Roots & Routes will be a week-long international journey of rural youth to imagine, build, and sustain their own organisations.

 

Objectives of the project:
  1. To bring together youth leaders working in rural and remote areas and address the issue of shrinking civic spaces.
  2. To exchange views and good practices in relation to building resilient structures for rural youth.
  3. To build the capacities of the participants to establish new or strengthen already existing rural youth organisations and other participation structures.
  4. To map out the future opportunities and contributions at the local, national and international level for RYE to further tackle beyond this WP.

 

Why attend?

There are many reasons as to why join this Seminar, but the most important ones are:

  • learning a lot about youth organisations and shrinking civic spaces
  • meeting young people from all across Europe,
  • creating new memories and forming friendships, that will last a lifetime,
  • improving your public speaking abilities, getting out of your comfort zone,
  • developing competencies that you can use in to improve your local communities and in your career,
  • and most importantly, we will have a full week of learning and having fun!

The program will feature interactive workshops, offering participants the chance to explore various aspects of the theme. Using non-formal education methods and emphasizing youth participation, the sessions will create opportunities for skill development, knowledge sharing, and experiential learning.

 

Participants must:
  • Be aged over 18 and under 30 years (limited spots available for up to 35 years);
  • Be active within their own youth organisation/ community;
  • Be interested in topics like youth participation, youth organisations, taking action in their organisation and local communities;
  • Be able to communicate in English;
  • Collect all original tickets, proof of payments and boarding passes to forward them to the team leader;
  • The participants are following theΒ Code of ConductΒ and general rules at all times;

Arrival: 25th of October 2025. Based on your travel plans and arriving hours, we will arrange the arrival at the venue.

Departure: 1stΒ  of November 2025.Β Based on your travel plans and arriving hours, we will arrange the departure from the venue.

 

Estimated Trip Costs

For Rural Youth Europe (RYE) events, RYE will subsidise travel costs of participants up to around Β£215.

The estimated costs of Autumn Seminar are as follows:

  • Β£240 flight (Edinburgh to Riga)
  • Β£34 train from Riga to nearer seminar venue
  • Β£60 participation fee

This opportunity is also eligible for International Trust and Young Farmers Ambassadors funding so there is a strong potential of further funding to cover the above costs.
