Homestay Exchange (Individual)

For over 70 years, the solo travel programme has been developed with the help of other Rural Youth and Young Farmer organisations to become the cornerstone of SAYFCs international programme.

The Solo Travel programme allows the traveller to immerse themselves into a different culture by staying with host families and will create friendships that last a lifetime.

Rural Youth Europe and Five Nations Conference

Through the partnership with Rural Youth Europe, SAYFC can offer four events designed to develop and applicants’ skills.

The European Rally is a unique opportunity to meet numerous fellow European Young Farmers, discuss and explore topical issues whilst representing and showcasing Scotland.

The Autumn and Spring seminars each have a different topical focus which aims to develop the skills, knowledge and confidence of attendees.

Alongside this the 5 Nations (Scotland, Northern Ireland, Wales, England and Ireland) run an annual conference each year to allow members to connect and learn together.

Group Exchange

A new opportunity for 2026, we are giving a group of SAYFC members the chance to travel to the Netherlands for one week to be hosted by P.J. B Rural Youth of Bathmen. This group have been exchanging with Young Farmers and Rural Youth groups for 50 years now and we are excited to be able to offer members the chance to travel to the Deventer area to meet and learn from fellow European youth group members while immersing yourself in the culture and sights of the Netherlands.

The 5 day trip will involve a local city tour; visits to farms and local businesses; a cooking workshop; socialising with Rural Youth Bathmen members and taking in the King’s Day celebrations.

A fantastic opportunity to meet like-minded individuals; see a Country and learn new ideas to bring back to SAYFC.

Group Travel

The Group Travel programme allows travellers to experience different countries as part of a large group on a prepared travel plan.

In the past years the Group Travel programme has visited diverse locations such as Morocco, India and Vietnam. Trips are available for both Summer and Winter months.

SAYFC also offer a ski trip which offers a more relaxed atmosphere and can be attended by any grade of skier.
