Open Day at SRUC Kirkton & Auchtertyre: The Benefits of Technology in Extensive Livestock Systems - 29th Sept

SRUC & SAC Consulting are organising an Open Day on the 29th September at SRUC Kirkton & Auchtertyre Farms, to learn about problems that farmers and crofters are currently facing and how technology is helping solve them.

This Industry Open Day will consist of a series of stopping points around our research farms, where attendees will hear from SRUC, SAC Consulting and Moredun Research Institute colleagues about the following range of issues of importance to hill farmers and crofters:

🏔️ Assessing the welfare of livestock when out on the hill
📍 Innovations in sheep and lamb tracking technologies
🐂 The outlook for the beef industry and the potential use of UHF tags
🐑 Assessing feed efficiency and methane emissions of individuals in a flock
🛜 The role that AI and sensors can play in assessing biodiversity
🪱 Parasite and disease challenges and solutions.

🏠Fundraising Thank Yous

Last year, @aberfeldy_and_district_jac made a splash for the Big Build with their Charity Duck Race.🦆

The event, which saw 649 ducks race on the day, raised a brilliant total of £1562 for the Big Build. A massive thank you to the club for organising the race and especially to the members who braved the cold water to corral the ducks and stop any attempts to break away downstream. 🏊

You can find out how you can support the campaign at the link in our bio. 🔗

The club's generous fundraising has earned them a well deserved spot on the silver tier of our dedicated Club Donation board which will hang proudly in our new centre.🩶

This week's #Wellbeingwednesday is all about self-confidence.

Our Development & Wellbeing Committee are encouraging members to look at the way they talk to themselves. Negative self talk can have a massive impact on your mental wellbeing. It's important we make the effort to encourage ourselves and believe in our own ability to learn, grow and succeed.🙌
