East Region Ready Steady Country Cook 2025

SAYFC East Region held their eliminations of the ‘Ready Steady Country Cooks’ competition on Tuesday 20th May at Kinross High. The event was kindly supported by Hunters of Kinross Butchers and ably judged by previous master chef stars Jilly McLeod & Sarah Rankin.
Ten teams competed on the night. Teams were given one hour to cook dishes using a bag of 8 mystery ingredients. Within the list of ingredients was quality Steak mince, kindly provided by Hunters of Kinross Butchers, noodles and spring onions. Without the aid of recipe books, teams had to create their very own meals in a ‘ready steady cook’ style competition. Teams were judged on all aspects of their cookery skills, including hygiene, technical skill and team work as well as the balance, taste, and appearance of the dishes prepared.
After a lot of discussions and deliberation, first place was awarded to Anna Pittendrigh & Will Hall of Edinburgh JAC followed by Ednam members, Emily Edgar & Katy Mcfadyen. The judges had a tough time choosing third place and the only option was to award third equal along with a highly commended to: Jess Brown & Abbie Cameron, Banks of Tay. Daisy Nicoll & Katie Briggs, Brechin and Toni Hope & Lauren Todd, Reston. Also fighting for the title were teams from Strathmore, Brechin, East Fife, Bell Baxter and Aberfeldy.
Our East Chair, Lucy Orr stated how impressed she was with the standard of cooking from the members. She commended them for their high standards of teamwork and cooperation within the competition and highlighted how great a competition it is for the members to put these crucial life skills into everyday practice.
Our top two teams will now go forward to the National Competition to represent the Region, we wish them the best of luck!

Kindly Supported by:
