Nerves of ‘Steel’ from Jamie

Nerves of ‘Steel’ from Jamie

On Sunday 14th December we held our National Clay Pigeon Shooting Competition at Cluny Activities in Fife with the support of BASC.

We had 25 members shooting on the day, completing a 50 Bird all round shoot from a variety of fixed traps with our top 4 teams competing in a team flush to help decide the final standings.

On the day it was the team from Peeblesshire who took first place, led by the competition’s ‘Top Gun’ Jamie Steel who achieved a notable tally of 45 hits in the all-round shoot.

Second place went to the team from East Lothian who put in an impressive display of shooting on the day. And rounding off the top 3 were the team from Inverurie with their own sharpshooter Martyn Thomson claiming just 1 bird less than Jamie.

The results from the day can be found below:

1st Place– Peeblesshire (155 pts) – Gordon Pate, Jamie Steel, Tom Weir

2nd Place– East Lothian (147 pts) – Matthew Kinch, Rupert Kinch, Euan Walker

3rd Place– Inverurie (140 pts)- Ian Armstrong, Jay Simpson, Martyn Thomson

Top Gun– Jamie Steel, Peeblesshire (45 pts)

Congratulations to all our competitors on a great day’s shooting. Thanks once again to Cluny Activities for their continue support and for hosting Young Farmers for shoots from National level down to club. And thanks to BASC for supporting the competition and continuing to encourage and educate Young Farmers about shooting, not only for sport but also for land management and conservation.
