Members show their clipping & dressing skills at National finals!

Last Sunday, held at Craig Wilson Ayr Market, teams from across the country set their timers and got to work at the 2021 National Dairy Cattle Dressing.

The hardy pairs had a total of 2 hours 15 minutes for their rough clip, wash, rinse, drying – and their all-important final clip!  The Young Farmers must give a massive thanks to George Borland for supplying the calves and to Lely for sponsoring the event.

Ably judged by Alexander Park and David Watson, winning the senior section of the day were;
Mauchline’s Cameron McGregor [clipper] & Kerr Sloan [holder]. In second was fellow Ayrshire members from Crossroads Glen Martin [clipper] & Craig Baird [holder].
In third and also flying the Mauchline flag were David Howat [clipper] & Tom Howat [holder].

Junior teams didn’t fail to impress the judges with Avondale’s Mark Bryson [clipper] & Harvey Meikle [holder] showing their detail skills for first place. Members of Stranraer & Rhins Zoe Ramsay [clipper] & Amy McNeil [holder] came second with Mauchline’s Adam Montgomerie [clipper] & Abbie Montgomerie [holder] in third.
