Kepak McIntosh Donald Back Prestigious Stockmanship Competition

Every year on the Saturday of the Royal Highland Show, Young Farmers members from across Scotland gather to compete in the National Stockmanship programme. This well-respected competition is one of the jewels of the SAYFC events schedule and has helped to produce many of Scotland’s leading stockpeople, with members practising for years to hone their skills and have a chance at winning the coveted ‘Stockman of the Year’ trophy.

This year, the competition has a brand-new sponsor in Kepak McIntosh Donald. A partnership with great appreciation for the quality of stock produced throughout Scotland and the skills require to notice and critique this quality. Martin Tait, Primary Operations Manager had this to say about supporting Scottish farming’s next generation:

“At Kepak, and particularly at our McIntosh Donald site in Portlethen, we are deeply connected to Scotland’s farming heritage and the people who shape it. Sponsoring the SAYFC Stockman of the Year Award is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the next generation of skilled, passionate stockpeople who are vital to the future of our industry.

He highlighted the importance of nurturing and maintaining Scotland’s excellent stockmanship standards:

We’re proud to support an award that recognises excellence in animal husbandry, commitment to high standards, and the enduring values that have defined Scottish agriculture for generations. It’s a privilege to play a part in championing young farmers as they build on that legacy and take it forward.”

The competition is well known for being highly contested and being a stepping stone for some of the finest stockpeople in the country. SAYFC’s National Chair Euan Bremner had this to say about the sponsorship:

“It is really great to have Kepak McIntosh Donald on board sponsoring our Stockmanship programme this year. They are a big player in the Scottish beef and lamb industry, so it means a lot that they’ve recognised the importance of this competition. The Stockmanship programme is one of our biggest events in SAYFC and it provides so much to our members, so we can’t thank Kepak McIntosh Donald enough for choosing to support it.”

The National Stockmanship competition will take place on Saturday 20th June at the Royal Highland Show, with the results being announced that evening at the MacRobert Pavillion and live on the SAYFC Facebook page.
