03 Nov National Title for Kilmaurs Klippers
SAYFC’s National Dairy Cattle Dressing Competition took place on Sunday 1st November at Craig Wilson Ltd, Livestock Auction Mart, Ayr.
Teams of two, made up of one clipper and one handler, worked throughout the morning to dress their given animal to showring standard. With two hours on the clock, each team had to get through a rough clip, wash, rinse and dry before finishing with a final clip.
The cattle on the day were kindly provided by George Borland.
Judges John Cousar and Struan McGregor assessed each pair on different parameters including their method and teamwork, washing, and the overall evenness of their clip. Once the scores had been totalled and the clippers silenced, the results were in.
Topping both the Senior and Overall competitions were Paul and Adam Smith from Kilmaurs YFC. Second place Seniors went to Robert Sloan & Isla Irving of Annandale YFC with Crossroads YFC pair Alex Drummond & Jack Cuthbertson claiming third.
In the Junior section, the win went to Lanarkshire pair Ryan Adamson & Ben Graham of Biggar YFC. Cameron and Robbie Logan of Beith YFC took second and Andrew Roan & Daisy Keiley of Stewartry YFC took third.
Well done to all our competitors. Thanks to our host venue Craig Wilson Ltd, judges John and Struan, stock provider George Borland, electrician David Steele, and our YF stewards for helping put on this great competition.
