East Fife JAC Wins East Rally For The First Time Since 1989

Balgay Farm at Inchture [Perthshire] was the host venue for the 2019 East Rally, by kind permission of the Graham family and Iain Wilkinson.

East Fife JAC scooped the winner’s title for the first time in 30 years, a huge achievement after competing against 13 other clubs for the Bibby Shield.
Pipped at the post in close second was Forfar JAC and both Kinross JAC and West Fife JAC in joint third overall.

The day kicked off with the junior and senior sections of Produce Show. Seniors made; Treacle Pancakes, Guacamole, Lemon Curd, Pannacotta, Fruit Punch, Macarons and a Floral Ladies Corsage.

Juniors made; Cheese Scones, Coleslaw, Raspberry Jam, Lemon Posset, Fruit Smoothie, Unfilled Meringues and a Floral Arrangement.

Stockjudging and valuation shortly followed, where members had 5 classes of cattle and sheep to judge and over 20 agricultural items to valuate. 12.45pm saw the beginning of the main competitions, including welding, grading lambs, quad and trailer driving, digger handing, floral art arranging, identification plus many more.

The final section of the day was a favourite of the clubs, the sports! Members competed in a wheelbarrow race, 100m sprint, 100m relay race and an obstacle course set up by Angus and Tayside District and Strathmore JAC.Β Spectators witnessed our members jumping over bales, crawling under nets, and plunging themselves into pools of water in order to slide into first place.

Many thanks to the Graham family, Iain Wilkinson and Craig Caird for their premises and help. Thanks to our judges and vlauers; Andrew McNee, Thomas Miller, Graham Burke, Norah Meikle, Anne Steel and Flor Dargie.
Thanks must also go to our stewards and scorers; Sarah Rattray, Pamela Reid, Glenn Jackson, Lucy Mitchell, Lianne Brunton, Nicola Millar, Laura Brown and Strathmore JAC & Angus Tayside District.
