14 Apr National Hustings Event

NFU Scotland, in partnership with the Scottish Association of Young Farmers Clubs, will host a key National Hustings Event on 28 April at Stirling Mart (United Auctions), bringing together leading political voices and the next generation of farmers and crofters.
Held ahead of the Scottish Parliament elections, the event will provide an important platform for discussion on the future of Scottish agriculture, rural policy and food production. The hustings will be hosted by NFU Scotland President Andrew Connon and will give members the opportunity to hear directly from political representatives and candidates.
Representatives from Scotland’s main political parties will take part, setting out their priorities for agriculture and responding to questions from farmers and crofters.
Confirmed speakers include:
Alistair Carmichael MP – Scottish Liberal Democrats
Jack McConnel – Scottish Labour
Jamie Halcro Johnston – Scottish Conservatives
Jim Fairlie – SNP
Mags Hall – Scottish Greens
Richard Fairley – Reform UK
The event is expected to attract a strong turnout of NFU Scotland and SAYFC members, ensuring that the views of the next generation are heard at a critical time for the industry.
With Scottish agriculture facing a period of significant change, the hustings will play a vital role in informing debate and helping shape the policy landscape for the years ahead.
