A ‘pick me up’ for Ranald with his Nuffield project ahead – It’s time to put the carbon back in the soil!

Bower Young Farmer, Ranald Angus – has this week been granted a place on 2021’s Nuffield Farming Scholarships Trust programme.

The Nuffield Farming Scholarships Trust annually award selected scholars a twelve thousand pounds grant to travel around the world to study a topic that will influence positive change in agriculture. Through his time in SAYFC, Ranald saw first hand the inspirational work done by the NFST and is now being welcomed into this great organisation.

He will now start to study his chosen topic of “Finding a mechanism to financially incentivise farmers to sequester carbon back into the soil.”

Ranald mentioned to SAYFC:
“I am extremely grateful to have been awarded a 2021 Nuffield Farming Scholarship, to be welcomed into the Nuffield organisation is a profound honour .

I am a staunch advocate of Bower YFC and of SAYFC. My experience from young farmers has taught me about the benefit that can be derived from being part of an organisation of like minded people, to me it seemed like a natural progression to peruse a Nuffield farming scholarship.
The key attributes of young farmers; Sharing interests and ambitions while being influenced and advised by your fellow peers is a value which will serve you well which ever path you wish to choose in life.
I would like to take the opportunity to thank my sponsors the Nuffield Farming Scholarships Trust and the MacRobert Trust for their very kind support.”
