William and Elspeth take on North Top Roles

On the 4^th of April 2026, members from across the North Region gathered at Fairways Golf Centre for the regional Assembly.

The day began with the election of the new committee. William Campbell of Bower YFC stepped into the Regional Chair position, taking on the role from Ellen Glennie after a successful year at the helm. A vote was then held to see who would fill the Vice-Chair role for the year ahead, this honour went to Elspeth Walker of Kinneff JAC winning ahead of a strong pool of candidates.

Speaking after his appointment, William said: “I feel honoured and privileged to elected to lead the north this year and look forward to work with Elspeth and the rest of the committee to achieve were aims this year and making it another great year in the organisation.”

He also paid tribute to retiring chair Ellen Glennie of Vale of Alford JAC, adding: “I’d like to thank Ellen for her excellent leadership throughout the last year and I’m sure she will be sticking round to keep us in line with helpful advice.”

Looking ahead, William emphasised the importance of creating opportunities for members. “In my time in young farmers I’ve had so many great opportunities and memories I hope in this position to give the next generation of members the same if not more chance to excel and develop themselves.”

District representatives were also confirmed before a vote was held to decide the final co-option committee places. The committee then reviewed the success of the previous year and took to the time to recognise the achievements of clubs from across the Region, handing out prizes for Participation and Recruitment and announcing the winners of the North Club of the Year Competition which had been held 2 days prior to the event.
